Fleet Town lost their grip on the Aldershot Senior Cup with this very narrow defeat by the British Army, who included Southern League starman Keith Emmerson who has helped Taunton Town to the West Division Title since leaving Farnborough earlier this season. Although Fleet started brightly, the Egham keeper Matt Nolan, being forced to block a Graeme Purdy effort in the third minute, but then a couple of set pieces for Egham provided them the openings that led to the moment that changed the game when a ball was blasted goalward, with an unlucky Fleet player only a yard away, the ball struck him and the referee blew for handball and a Penalty to Egham, which their dangerman Brendan Matthew converted after only 7 minutes. It was a Thursday night hop, the short distance to our neighbours and friends of Hartley Wintney for this Evo-Stik South, East Division, League Fixture, as our hosts were looking to consolidate their place in the play offs, or even an automatic promotion place.
