End of Season Review – Ladies First Team

With the last games of a long season being played (today) 12th May, Fleet Town Ladies have finished their Hampshire Womens League Division Two campaign in a respectable mid table 6th place. They have 34 points from their 20 games played or awarded, the two fixtures against East Cowes Victoria being left unplayed and declared void by the league, despite the league arranging many double header encounters to try to get most of the games played, several fell victim to the weather or ferry problems on some Sundays and as these did not affect any promotion/relegation position they were not rescheduled again. The season had started with a difficult game, losing 6-0 at home to the eventual champions Gosport Falcons 6-0 but soon improved and their mid-table position was cemented with a three game winning run either side of the Christmas, New Year break and a final flourish that saw them win the last three games played in March. The Ladies also reached the Semi-Finals of the Leagues Junior Cup before falling to Gosport Falcons, again, Gosport went on to beat AFC Stonehame 3-1 in the Final.
