FA Youth Cup – Hungerford Town Youth 2 Fleet Town Youth 1
The boys were always going to be up against it after Harrison pulled out of the squad due to a sore hamstring and the dependable Luke Harmsworth stepped in as goalkeeper.
Fleet were all over the full time Academy side and should have been 3 maybe 4 goals to the good for all there possession and chances but we only had a great Dylan Averiss strike to count on to take us into half time.
Hungerford were far more hungry for the ball second half and equalised after a long low shot into the far bottom corner from a free kick.
Fleet were still well in the game and were starting to put pressure on the Hungerford defence. With around 15 mins left Hungerford went in front when their striker found a gap and coolly side footed home.
The last 10 minutes was all Fleet and their keeper pulled off an amazing save in the last minute from a Cavan Atkinson header that was destined to take the tie to extra time.
It wasn’t to be but the Management, supporters and players can feel very proud of a great performance against a very good Academy side.
