Fleet Town 1 Mangotsfield United 2

Mangotsfield, looking to build on their 4-0 win over Barnstaple last weekend, created the first after one minute when James Bloom crossed for Jordan Williams to shoot wide. Fleet were able to soon force their first corner, played in tight the ball hit the post and the Mangos keeper Andrew Hannah found a way to get the ball away for another corner. Fleet kept pressing and a Danilo Cadete cross picked out Riccardo Andrady but he could only manage to lift his shot over the bar. But soon the danger was back at the other end when the visitors were awarded a free kick close to the box, the kick lifted into the box, Fleet keeper Brendan Norris came out to meet the ball but his touch fell kindly towards Kyle Tooze who headed the ball back towards the unguarded net, Norris regained his position to stretch out a hand to hook the ball out. In an end to end encounter, Fleet threatened again, a wonderful shot from Danilo Cadete just got a deflection taking it inches outside the post for a corner. After 31 minutes Fleet won a free kick on the edge of the box, Mangotsfield’s keeper took a long time to get the wall where he wanted them, Danilo Cadete picked his spot and the ball flew past the wall into the roof of the net to put the home side ahead. But ten minutes later the visitors Kyle Tooze ran through with the ball, faced up to Brendan Norris, took the ball round him and into the empty net for the equaliser. Then in the final seconds of the first half the visitors took the lead when Michael Bryant got to a loose ball in the Fleet box and found the net. The close game tightened up more in the second half as both sides were determined not to make mistakes, Meshach Williams and Joe Wilson created several openings and crosses to no avail, then with Fleet pressing for an equaliser the decisive chance came on 90 minutes, when Meshach Williams deep pass into the box met by the head of Danilo Cadete, his effort thundered against the crossbar and was cleared away.

For his goal and all round hard work, the easi-leaflets man of the match was awarded to Danilo Cadete. Although Fleet suffered another narrow defeat, they look forward to the next game against winless, basement side Barnstaple Town, in the FA Trophy next Saturday, 13th at Calthorpe Park.
