Fleet Town 2 AFC Stoneham 4

In the 2nd Round of the Hampshire Senior Cup Fleet had another tough game against AFC Stoneham. AFC Stoneham won the Wessex Division 1 last year and 3 out of their 4 Premier League games so far. As with many Fleet games this season within the first 10 minutes Fleet were two goals down. Both goals although good finishes were not helped by poor defending in the Fleet team. As with other games Fleet pushed on and pressurised the AFC Stoneham side and made a number of chances that unfortunately were not taken, so despite just edging the play Fleet found themselves 1-2 down at half-time.

The second half followed a similar pattern with AFC Stoneham scoring a further two goals before Jake Hammond pulled a goal back in the last 10 minutes. Both AFC Stoneham goals came as a result of Fleet errors and just highlighted how easily you can be punished in step 5 football. Fleet made a number of chances through the second half, with the best falling to Bradley Wilson and Enow Ojong, but unfortunately they were not taken and so Fleet only scored 2 goals.

Having played 9/12 cup games so far this season, it is a bit of a relief to return to the bread and butter of the league and a chance to move up the league and gain some much needed points.
