Hartley Wintney 6 Fleet Town 1
Fleet’s first pre-season friendly was a tough work out against Step 3 Hartley Wintney on their training ground. With the temperature rising even at the early 12.15 kick off time it was always going to be hard after only 2/3 training sessions. The first half was dominated by Hartley Wintney with ex Fleet Town stalwart Ty Smith pulling the strings in midfield, he comfortably moved the ball around the pitch and scored two cracking shots from outside the box. Hartley scored three further goals, with one a penalty. Fleet had their moments, with Bradley Wilson and Taylor Watts trying to hit on the break.
The second half was far more even, although Hartley Wintney had much of the play and made chances they only scored one more goal and had a penalty saved by Aaron Bufton. Fleet new boy Aaron Redford scored a nice goal when he was put clean through and rounded the Hartley goalkeeper to slide the ball into an empty net.
Although the scoreline was not exactly what Fleet were looking for it was better than the 7-0 defeat in last years Hartley Wintney friendly. There were some good signs in the second half with Fleet moving the ball nicely and making a few chances. Onto the next friendly which is away at Walton Casuals on Tuesday night with a 7.45pm kick off.
