Great match between two evenly matched sides, competitive and enjoyable, Aldershot had the one bit of luck in front of goal that eluded us and Ruiz has a reputation of saving penalties so no surprise he got to a couple, Lyall was unlucky not to save their first kick. Aldershot website (theshots.co.uk) has a selection of photos and fair report that even says Fleet were unlucky not to win, just that someone at Aldershot cannot count and has the penalty count as 5-4.
Lets hope the luck in front of goal changes now and we stick a couple (at least) away in each of the upcoming crucial league games.

Yes, what you might an interesting afternoons entertainment, prob henceforth known as the Battle of Stompond Lane

Right from the off, you got the impression it was going to be one of those as W & H went ahead after only about 2 mins. The second was a result of Lyall's mistake which he more than made up for later with a miracle save in the second half. We fought back well to 2 -2 with Tom B and Dan R in particular working very hard to play some football but once the referee's attrition started it became almost inevitable that we would, as usual with W & H - 4 times I think so far this season, concede a winner in the dying minutes. Tne penalty for us in the second half was a bit of a strange one, perhaps symptomatic of the ref's mystery decision making of which more in a bit

Anyway, the match will obviously mostly be remembered for the fact 18 out of 22 players finished it.

It was pretty physical, a blinding glimpse of the obvious perhaps, but for 4 players to go was ludicrous. Ty Smith's second booking was un-necessary, a word would have been sufficient; Leigh R and their player did not deserve to go IMO it was an innocuous scuffle over the ball at a throw-in but by this time the referee, who was pretty poor in his decision making throughout, had lost control of the game. Luke E's dismissal was fair enough a minute from the end as we chased the equaliser

I dont think I've seen Andy Sinton that angry before, I had some concerns he would get his marching orders at the end of the match as he made his views clear to the referee

The whole game was marked by the baying W & H supporters who got on the backs of the officials at every opportunity but that's not a complaint merely an observation

The trouble is of course at this stage of the season those dismissals are damaging, let's just hope they dont come back to haunt us

And no Jason, your clicking was hardly noticeable such was the chaos on and off the pitch !!
