AFC Porchester 3 Fleet Town 2

At a wind and rain swept Porchester there was a very entertaining game of football unfortunately mistakes cost Fleet the chance of beating the team placed 2nd in the league. With Porchester opening their new boardroom it was always going to be a tight game.

Fleet had the first chance of the game when Brad Wilson was played clean through on the wing, as he approached goal he tried to chip the goal keeper rather than shoot and it was easily dealt with. This was quickly punished by Porchester. A cross was dropped by Fleet goalkeeper Chris Harris at the feet of the Porchester striker who calmly slotted the ball into the net. Things got worse for Fleet when they tried to play out from the back and lost the ball, this resulted in a 20 yard shot that went straight into the bottom corner. With the rain continuing to come down the rest of the half had Fleet defending without creating much up front. Half-time 2-0

The second half continued with the same weather patterns and similar play. Porchester extended their lead when a slip in the full back position allowed a cross to be headed in from about 5 yards. Things got worse for Fleet when full back and captain Sam Williams was sent off for a shocking tackle in front of the dugouts. When things looked to be going from bad to worse Fleet decided to actually play a bit and this made the last half an hour very interesting. Although Porchester still made chances Fleet scored two goals. First Paul Coventry scored with a sumptuous overhead kick from an Aaron Redford cross. Then in the last minute Fleet were somehow awarded a penalty that Brad Wilson calmly slotted away. What is annoying is that Fleet also hit the bar with a Jake Hammond header and were close to coming away with a point. Full Time – AFC Porchester 3 Fleet Town 2
