AFC Stoneham 2 Fleet Town 0

Arriving at the HP Arena minus 5 starting players and an entire front line this was always going to be a tough game for Fleet. Ude Osmi made his debut having joined the club during the week, he played upfront having signed as a winger.

With the rain holding off but the wind blowing Fleet started in good style, playing 3 at the back and wing-backs bombing on they were causing Stoneham problems but still had problems onside. When Stoneham did break through they found Aiden in good form and he made a couple of excellent saves. Fleet’s best chance in the first half fell to Ude Osmi but unfortunately he was unable to connect with Jame Smith’s right wing cross. Half-time 0-0

The second half started in much the same vein with both teams probing for openings but often Fleet’s final ball going astray. With both teams pushing on a very heavy pitch it was Stoneham who luckily took the lead. A deflection took a wayward shot looping over a helpless Aiden into the back of the net. A second goal came for Stoneham came when a through ball fell to their striker who calmly placed the ball into the net. Fleet pushed to get back into the game their best chance seeming to come when James Smith was pulled down in the box but unsurprisingly the ref didn’t give a penalty. Full-time 2-0
