Beaconsfield Town 2 Fleet Town 0

All the players, management and fans of Fleet Town came away rom this match scratching their heads in disbelief that Fleet came away with nothing from this match against high flying Beaconsfield.

Fleet had the first clear chance of the game inside the first ten minutes, when Ashley Lloyd got his head to a free kick, but saw the ball clear the bar. Only a couple of minutes later Beaconsfield won the first corner of the game, played into the box, a few touches from both sides and the ball found its way out to Wes Daly who fired the ball home to put the Rams ahead. Both sides played some good football, with the home side having more chances to add to their lead, Fleet were quick on the break to set up some chances of their own, but both sides only provided catching practise for the two keepers. Then in the final minute of the half Fleet get their first corner, played in deep, Owen Roberts headed goalward but it was another save by Ravan Constable.

The second half saw Billy Oram and Chris Wales swop positions and this initially stifled the home side and with Fleet knocking the ball about, it was the visitors getting on top and created so many good chances, with Toyosi Olusanya looking the most dangerous, he brought an early save from Constable, before the home side decided they had to make changes and brought on Costa and Mitford. Almost immediately Costa was in and it needed a fine save from Liam Beach to deny him, at the expense of a corner, which was only played into the side netting. Fleet pushed out and the chance fell to Toyosi, his shot struck the top of the bar and over. Then it was Ashley Lloyd who ran through, but the final shot was easily stopped by Constable. Then another opening and Chris Wales shoots, he also strikes the cross-bar. Into the final ten minutes and the home side realising they were in a battle to stay ahead, Tre Mitford was taking it on himself to try to secure the game and was disappointed to see his effort pass outside the post from a yard or two out. Fleet break forward again and Toyosi is clear and lobs keeper Constable, only to see the ball strike the inside of the post and come out. Moments later Toyosi has the ball again at the edge of the box, this time he lays the ball off to James Haworth, his strike comes so close but passes just over the bar. Back to the other end and Mitford wins the ball in the box, takes it to the by-line and crosses the ball low across the area, but the ball eludes his teammates and is cleared, to set up the next Fleet chance, again it is Toyosi and James Haworth combining and Constable has to be at his best to get down and collect the ball off Haworth’s foot by the base of the post. Into added time and the home side’s long ball finds a target man, the shot blocked by Liam Beach but not held falls to Tre Mitford to blast home and give the Rams a 2-0 win.
