Christchurch 4 Fleet Town 0

A second defeat in a week for Fleet really was a bad day at the office. A very direct Christchurch team were clearly up for revenge after Fleet beat them earlier this year. Unfortunately Fleet were not able to compete with the home team. Dan Bone made his first start for the club and Jake Hammond moved back into midfield.

Fleet as is there want at the moment found themselves 2-0 down in the first 15 minutes. Christchurch’s first goal came when they reacted quickest to a rebound off the bar and finished past Aiden Upward and then a good shot from inside the box. Fleet did have chances and a good passing move left Jake Hammond on his own in the middle of the box but unfortunately he put his shot over. Then Malachi Thomas was played clean through only to be pulled back by the Christchurch defender, unsurprisingly this was missed by the referee and linesman. Half-time 2-0.

The strong wind continued in the second half and Fleet came out and battled hard to get back in the game making a couple of scrambles in the Christchurch box and Dan Bone having a header over. Christchurch continued to give the Fleet defence trouble with their very direct style, Aiden Upward made a number of good saves in the Fleet goal. Christchurch’s third goal came when a long ball played their striker clean through despite many protestations from the Fleet defence and bench that the player was offside…The fourth goal came with an uncontested header from a corner in the last seconds of the game. Aiden Upward deserved man of the match for his saves and handling throughout the game. Full-time 4-0
