Fleet Town 0 AFC Rushden & Diamonds 4

Fleet Town welcomed the East Divisons leaders AFC Rushden & Diamonds to the Franki Foundations Stadium and in front of a bumper crowd of 238, it did not take the visitors long to show why they are at the top of table. After only 6 minutes Ben Farrell put R&D ahead curling his shot past the dive of Liam Beach. Despite the visitors dominance, strong and stout defending kept them at bay and when they got a shot away there was still Liam to beat, such as after half an hour when he tipped over a shot from 25 yards from Joe Curtis. But just before the break a cross from Luke Fairlamb was met by the head of Ben Diamond with just enough space to guide the ball inside the post to put the visitors further ahead. Just before the break Farrell tried his luck from 35 yards but his effort was wide and the first half ended with Rushden two goals to the good.
The second half started with the visitors on the attack an early effort from Joel Gyasi was tipped over by Liam Beach. Just before the hour, Joel Gyasi got on the scoresheet, when he nodded in another fine Luke Fairlamb cross. Then five minutes later it was Luke Fairlamb who scored from a free kick which he managed to curl inside the post for the visitors 4th goal. Into the last twenty minutes Rushden felt comfortable and in control enough to take off their dangermen Tom Lorraine and Luke Fairlamb. Although Fleet were giving the visitors keeper Ben Heath something more to do in the second half, he made the saves look easy, then when Fleet had their best chance of the game after 90 minutes, they managed to put the ball wide from about six yards out. The game finished with a 4-0 win for the visitors and lots of happy Rushden supporters making plans for their trip home.
