Fleet Town 1 Evesham United 4

Evesham United cemented their position in the play-offs and got their promotion push back on track, after a difficult start running out clear winners at Calthorpe Park. Fleet took the lead after only eleven minutes, when Billy Oram won the ball at the back, he played the ball up to Joe Wilson on halfway, he in turn saw a gap in the defensive line ahead and played the ball through for Meshach Williams to run onto, Meshach took the ball into the box before calmly sliding the ball past Andrew Hannah in the visitors goal to put Fleet in front. Fleet were gifted a golden chance to extend their advantage when a poor clearance from Andrew Hannah went straight to Joe Wilson, he got the ball back into the box where Meshach Williams was waiting, he shot but was denied by an outstretched leg from Andrew Hannah. The next attack saw Meshach Williams turn provider for Joe Wilson, but just as he was in the act of shooting, William Tunnicliffe got there to clear the ball off his foot for a corner. Then, again the run of play, a break from Evesham the ball across the box found its way to an unmarked Cory Simpson, who made no mistake to level the score on 26 minutes. Fleet though were soon down the other end again, Enow Ojong played in a teasing cross, which the visitors keeper flapped at under the bar, only knocking it down to the feet of Harryson Wickens, but he rushed his effort and skewed the ball well wide of the target. From another Fleet corner on the left, the ball was lifted deep and was met by the head of Jordan Stepney, but he could not direct the ball goalward and it flew past the outside of the post. Just before the break the visitors created chances to snatch the lead, Steve Davies crossed from the left to find Joe Turley at the far post, his effort saved by Brendan Norris, but the ball ran loose and was fired back in for Brendan to save again. The final chance of the half came for the hosts when Meshach Williams ball up saw Harryson Wickens collect the ball and get round the back to play over a cross, this time the defence was alive to the danger and quickly cleared the ball. The half ended all square, but the second half turned in the Steve Davies show. On 52 minutes the visitors keeper Andrew Hannah took a free kick in his own half, lifted all the way up into the box, Steve Davies rose above his markers and his head flicked the ball into the net. After 68 minutes, Evesham sub Jacob Davidge ran through and played the ball onto Steve Davies who rifled a shot into the net from 25 yards out. As Fleet continued to press for a way back, the visitors broke forward and Nick Hancock crossed for Steve Davies to head in at the far post on 89 minutes.
