Fleet Town 1 Farnborough 3

Fleet Town exited the Southern League Challange Cup at the first hurdle. The first chances fell to the visitors forcing Fleet to concede an early corner, which they only just got scrambled away, but soon it was Fleet’s turn to show what they could do, with Danilo Cadete’s non-stop running, on his hundredth start for Fleet Town, up and down the right wing, he was instrumental  in Fleet creating several dangerous moments, which eventually paid dividends when Danilo played in the cross that recent signing Riccardo Andrady netted the opening goal on 21 minutes. Despite continuing to create some chances this was as good as it got for Fleet, as Farnborough were level before half time, when Fleet failed to clear a corner and after blocking a couple of goal attempts it was Jo Peters that made no mistake to find the target, the game seemed evenly balanced at the break.

The second half saw an early chance for the home side, from a free kick taken by Danilo Cadete, Farnborough were able to get the ball clear, of the area, but straight to a Fleet foot, played the ball straight to Danilo Cadete to cut in and shoot, his effort saved, but then the second half belonged more and more to the visitors, before the hour from a Farnborough corner the ball was turned home by Luke King to put the visitors ahead. Within a few minutes Farnborough went further ahead, a long 30 yard pass split the Fleet defence and Michael Fernandes outpaced the defense to be first to the ball and slide the ball past Norris into the net. Fernandes was later through again and this time he waas denied by a fabulous slide by Joe Wilson to turn the ball past the post when it was heading in. Despite several late corners Farnborough could not add to their score, as Brendan Norris was in the right place to catch and punch the ball away.

Next Up on Saturday is the FA Cup match against East Grinstead, with the international break, this is a good chaance for all the local Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Southampton, Watford fans to come along to Calthorpe Park for their footy fix.
