Fleet Town 2 AFC Porchester 2

Two well matched teams met at Calthorpe Park on Saturday. The previous game of the season had ended up with AFC Porchester winning 3-2. Fleet went into the game with a number of absentees and a re-organised 1-11.

Unfortunately I was not at the game but Porchester took the lead in the first half with a good finish and although both teams had chances the score at half-time was 1-1. The only other incident of the half was Fleet coach Chris Neate inexplicably being sent off for being pushed by the AFC Porchester manager.

The second half only really came to life in the last 15 minutes. Fleet equalised when Dan Bone chased down a back pass and blocked the goalkeepers clearance into the net. Fleet scored their second when Dan Bone brilliantly headed in sub Billy Oram’s cross. Fleet couldn’t quite hang on to the lead and Porchester equalised with 5 minutes to go. Both teams were left with 10 men after an altercation in the midfield resulted in Stu Derry being sent off along with the AFC Porchester number 8. Youth team player Max Burke came on in the last couple of minutes to make his first team debut. Full-time 2-2
