Fleet Town 2 Baffins Milton Rovers 3

In what was quite an even game Fleet’s inability to stay onside really caused them problems and stopped them playing their free flowing football. Baffins who had either won or lost all of their league games were always going to be a threat.

In the first half Fleet started quite well and had a number of flowing attacks but couldn’t find a way through the Baffins defence either through a poor final pass or being offside. Paul Coventry and Aaron Redford had chances that they couldn’t convert. Baffins took the lead when their midfielder was allowed to advance through the Fleet midfield to the edge of the box with no pressure. He duly obliged by placing the ball into the bottom corner beyond Aiden Upward. With Fleet pushing for an equaliser Baffins extended their lead when they broke and put together a nice passing move that gave them a well worked goal. Half-time 0-2

After what can only be imagined to have been another half-time rocket Fleet came out and really made a game of it. Their first goal came from James Smith when he ran onto a square ball and blasted the ball into the top corner from about 20 yards. Not only did the goalkeeper not move but neither did many of the people in the ground such a good strike was it. The comeback didn’t last long as an error at the back from Fleet allowed Baffins to regain their 2 goal lead and seemingly set themselves up for the 3 points. Fleet however came back again with that man Smith, he chased down a poor back pass and was able to slide it past the Baffins goalkeeper to give Fleet hope. Unfortunately Fleet were unable to get another goal back to the game finished 2-3.
