Fleet Town 2 Hamble 2

An excellent and enjoyable game took place with both Fleet and Hamble attacking and pushing for goals. Last year Fleet came from 2 goals down to win and this match was almost a reverse of that game.

As has happened in previous games Fleet started at a fast pace and took the lead with Mal Thomas scoring a good goal. With both teams attacking there were chances at both ends of Calthorpe Park but Hamble goalkeeper Kacper Kowalczyk was in good form keeping Billy Oram and Mal Thomas at bay. Fleet eventually doubled their lead after 35 minutes, when great control and shot from Mal Thomas was again saved by Kowalczyk, but this time Matty Pearse was able to side foot in the rebound. Fleet were 2-0 in the lead. Unfortunately Fleet couldn’t keep the lead for long when a Hamble break was finished with a shot from the edge of the box. Half-time 2-1

The second half followed a very similar pattern with both teams looking for more goals and putting the defences seriously under pressure. The only problem for Fleet was that they couldn’t find a way past Kowalcyzk. He made a great double safe from Mal Thomas and further saves from Matty Pearse and Dan Bone. Ralph Karumazondo got to a cross before Kowalcyzk but lifted his chance just over the bar. Hamble equalised direct from a fre-kick, Fleet goalkeeper Harry Nash handled the ball on the side of the Fleet box. Fleet made a wall but the power and precision of the shot was unstoppable. Both sides had further chances as the half progressed with Hamble heading over from a corner in the last minute. A really entertaining game with a draw probably a fair result. Full-time 2-2.
