Fleet Town 3 Aldershot Town U23’s 1

A winning return to Calthorpe Park for Fleet Town. This was the only home friendly of 2020 and the first that could have fans in attendance. The outstanding work of club covid office Caroline Bone meant that the 110 crowd were safely able to move around the pitch and clubhouse.

It was great to have fans back in Calthorpe Park and many commented on the further work that has gone on in the ground whether that be the improved dugouts, the lovely blue walls or the covid signs and hand gel.

The game itself was an entertaining friendly played at a fast pace with many hard tackles going in. Fleet took an early two goal lead with good strikes that evaded the Aldershot goalkeeper. Both teams tried to play good football and got the ball down on the lush green pitch. Half-time 2-0

As changes were made by both teams in the second half the play became a bit more fractured but both teams endeavoured to play passing football. Aldershot pulled a goal back from the penalty spot and then Fleet scored a third as the game went into the last quarter. Full-time 3-1

A good game that was enjoyed by the 110 crowd.
