Fleet Town 4 Tadley Calleva 1

Fleet’s new manager Koo, saw his new young trial squad put through their paces in his first competitive match in charge in this friendly against our friends of Tadley Calleva. Fleet started the stronger and it was not long before they opened the scoring, a deep cross being nodded in at the far post from a couple of yards out. With Fleet carving out the majority of chances, it was not a surprise when they doubled their lead before half time, albeit making hard work of the chance, taking a long time to make the space for a clear open shooting chance before planting the ball in the back of the net.

Following a lot of substitutions at half time, Fleet lost their domination of the first half, Tadley now on the front foot, showed the good play that saw them win promotion last season, the ball eventually fell to ex Blue, Daryl Philips to pull a goal back. Tadley could and maybe should have scored again, one dangerous cross slid all the way through the box without a Tadley player getting the touch to divert the ball goalward. Then when Tadley did find a way to put the ball in the net they were denied by an offside flag. After this escape Fleet took over control again and after a couple of narrow misses, they found the way to score twice in the added time to complete a fine 4-1 win in the squads first outing together.

Next up for Fleet is the visit of Basingstoke Town to Calthorpe Park on Tuesday evening (24th).
