Fleet Town 5 Eversley & California 2
Fleet returned to action in another cup tie, this time the 2nd Round of the Hampshire Senior Cup. With injuries piling up Kieran Nagle-Kelly returned to the side and Yassa Arafat made a rare start. Eversley came buoyed by their FA Vase win on Friday night.
The game started with plenty of attacking by both sides. Fleet however took an early lead when James Beauchamp headed in a corner. The lead was short lived when Eversley scored with a pin point free-kick from the edge of the box. More attacking resulted in Fleet retaking the lead when a James Beauchamp chased a through ball and was dragged down in the box by the Eversley defender who received a red card. Billy Oram confidently stepped up to score the penalty. At this point I think many Fleet fans thought this would ease the game in their favour, nothing could be further from the truth. Eversley equalised with another great shot from the edge of the box and went on to have a number of good chances to take the lead before half-time. Half-time 2-2
Both sets of fans were excited about the second half and what attacking football would be on offer. Fleet made one change in midfield with Sean Hayes replacing Yassa Arafat and pushed up the pitch to attack Eversley’s defence. Attacking football continued with both sides making half-chances and Eversley’s pace worrying the Fleet defence. Fleet took the lead when substitute Dan Bone scored. James Beauchamp ran onto a through ball and held it up expertly before rolling in Dan who finished into the top corner from the edge of the box. The best goal of the game was yet to come when an attack down the left resulted in the ball being played to Kieran Nagle-Kelly who curled the ball into the top corner across the goalkeeper. Eversley were still looking dangerous on the break so Fleet fans could not fully relax. The final goal was from Dan Bone when he ran onto a through ball and beat the goalkeeper. A great game of attacking football with some outstanding wing play from Danilo Pereira. Full-time 5-2
