Fleet Town Management Team Announcement for 2022/23
Fleet Town Management team for next season as follows
Director of Football – Paul Bonner
First Team Manager – David Kelly
Assistant Manager – Tommy Taylor
Head Coach – Chris Neate
First Team Coach – Sam Wilson
Kit Manager – Steve Cottingham
GK Coach – Vacancy
Sport Therapist – Vacancy
Paul Bonner is a great addition to the football club with years of experience in both youth and senior football in both the mens and womens game. He will help us set up our under 23s for next season as well as support the under 18s and the first team in helping recruit the best young talent in the area and creating a pathway from 18s into the first team.
Sam Wilson joined us at the back end of last season. Sam is a young talented coach in the area who was first team manager at Ash United last season. David has known him for many years and once available was straight on the phone to bring him in. One of the best technical coaches and with high standards he fitted the club’s profile.
Steve Cottingham has become kit manager. He brings a wealth of experience from non-league football having worked at many clubs in a variety roles such as Aldershot Town, Farnborough and Ash United.
David, Tommy and Chris who have been involved from the start in 2018 have all remained loyal and wanted to build on last season. With two cup finals and improved end to the season feel we have unfinished business and want to continue progressing on the pitch.
David on the coaching staff “I was delighted that first both Tommy and Chris wanted to continue next season. After having meetings with the club about its future plans it was clear it ticked a lot of boxes for us. We are all naturally ambitious but we have to be realistic as well. The club has put in place a 3 year plan which, once we have told our fans at the forum, we will share. Bringing Sam in has been a excellent signing for us as he brings experience of non-league as well one of the best local coaches around. A lot of clubs were after him but I’m delighted to bring him aboard. Adding Steve in as kit manager has taken a lot of pressure of the coaching team who for the last four seasons have been washing or arranging the kit to be washed between them, which I’m sure like most non-league clubs is the norm, but Steve has certainly taken that pressure away from us and his attention detail is brilliant. The boys in the squad are certainly very thankful”
“Lastly, Paul Bonner joining us is someone I’m really happy to be working with. Myself and Paul have been talking over the last 6 months about football and getting to know each other and when I asked him if he would like to come on board we were not sure in what capacity but with the club’s 3 year plan and the experience he has we felt it was someone who we definitely wanted involved. So him taking on the director of football role was something that I and the club needed so it could bridge the gap between myself and the committee. It will also help in creating the next steps moving forward in building our 23s for the following season”.
We have a couple of interviews this week for our remaining two roles to fill, which will finalise our coaching team for the season. If you are interested in applying for either of these roles please contact Paul Bonner on firstname.lastname@example.org
