Frimley Green 2 Fleet Town 2
Fleet returned to Frimley Green for the first time in a number of years for what turned out to be a feisty affair with 2 red cards for each team. Fleet had Ryan Bone and Tom Wensley suspended after the Sandhurst game so went into the game with a new formation.
It was clear in the first half that Frimley were up for the game and they put the Fleet defence under a lot of pressure. They scored 2 quick goals to take a 2-0 lead, one of them an excellent curling effort from the edge of the box. A stunned Fleet started to play and but for some hard tackling by the home team they make have scored earlier.
Fleet’s first goal came from Leo Decabo when his curling free-kick eluded all of the players in the box and rolled into the far corner of the net past ex Fleet goalkeeper Chris Harris. With this goal Fleet increased their pressure and Mal Thomas was played through and he eventually finished to make the score 2-2. 4 goals and lots of good play meant at half-time it was 2-2.
Within 5 minutes of the restart Fleet were down to 10 men, Billy Oram committed a foul and the ref decided to book him, Billy swore at him and was sent off. This lead to the Fleet defence being under pressure and a number of good headers by Steve Lee kept Frimley Green out. The players on each side were equalised when Fleet substitute Yassa Arafat was bought down by a Frimley player who was sent off. Both sides had chances to win the game missing chances or the goalkeepers making good saves. The final action of the game was when Mal Thomas was played clean through in the last minute, he was offside, but carried on to try and score. This action resulted in a pushing match between Mal and a Frimley player, all the players joined in and one player from each side was sent off. Not the ideal way to end the game after an entertaining encounter. Full-time 2-2
