Hamworthy United 1 Fleet Town 3

On a bright but crisp day Fleet travelled down to Hamworthy United to play on their 4G pitch. Hamworthy have a good setup with a nice clubhouse and viewing facilities. Fleet welcomed George Mulonda for his debut and Dan Bone who had made one sub appearance before.

The first half was a great flowing game of football with both teams attacking at the first opportunity with good passing football. Fleet took the lead with a close range Aaron Redford header from a corner, he doesn’t just score free-kicks…Aaron became provider 4 minutes later when he broke down the right wing and crossed the ball to Jake Hammond who finished clinically at the far post. Fleet could have made it three soon after but the Hamworthy goalkeeper made a good save from Aaron Redford when he was played through. Hamworthy came back into the game and Chris Harris had to be at his best to save from a couple of free-kicks and chances that fell to the Hamworthy front two. Half-time 0-2

The second half continued in a similar style, but with Hamworthy having more possession and Fleet looking good on the break. Chris Harris made more good saves as Hamworthy pressed forward, but Fleet defended well kept them at bay. Fleet’s decisive 3rd goal came from second half substitute Dan Bone and quite a goal it was…He was played clean through but as the goalkeeper came out and defender converged it seemed that all three would end up on the floor but somehow Dan got his foot to the ball and it trickled past the goalkeeper into the empty net. Hamworthy gained a consolation goal when a strike hit the bar but bounced over the goal line for a goal. This bought about 10 minutes pressure from Hamworthy but Fleet defended well and a couple of chances to extend the lead from Sam Williams and Dan Bone. A good win and 3 well deserved points.
