Northwood 2 Fleet Town 1

Despite one of their best team performances of the season, Fleet Town are still looking for their first away win in the league this season. Northwood had their best spells in the first and last ten minutes of the game, with Fleet on top for long periods between. Within the first five minutes the hosts played over two dangerous crosses from the right, which Fleet were able to clear, before a super chance fell to Osei, he got past his marker and got in aa shot before the Fleet back line had regrouped and were able to clear. Once Fleet got the ball down the other end, they were able to win two corners in quick sucession, but the balls in were easily collected by keeper Hazlett. The best chances of the first half, saw a cross from the right flicked on by Ruzicka, and collected by Bennett past the far post, his shot hit Hazlett and came back to him, he composed himself and shot again, Hazlett again got in the way to deny Oliver. As Northwood struggled to keep possession, rushing to clear and poor direction gave the ball back to Fleet time and again, but in front of goal the ball did not run for us. When he found himself in space 30 yards out Patrik Ruzicka let fly, keeper Hazlett stood rooted to the spot and was releived to see it just pass over the bar. When Northwood were able to get forward, it was only Olorunfemz and Kouassi combining down the right that seemed to present any threat, but often let down at the end with Kouassi always looking to get the ball to his right foot. The one time Kouassi switched to the left, he got round the defender on that side and his perfect cross found the head of Newman, his bullet header gave Liam almost no time to react, but react he did, an outstretched arm got the touch to take the ball away for a corner. For Fleet Bradley Wilson played over a cross to Patrik Ruzicka, his shot took a deflection which took the pace off the ball and it ran safely to Hazlett. After 37 minutes the hosts got the biggest slice of luck of the game, going through the middle, Lewis Ochoa shot, his effort was heading nearer the corner flag than the goal, but ran to Newman out wide who fired the ball into the net to give to put Northwood ahead. A minute laaer Northwood should have doubled their lead when Kouassi was through, he past Beach and managed to skew his shot wide of the tartget.

The second half saw Fleet make the running, a fine cross from Youth Team player Ross Ewen had to desperately headed behind at the expense of a corner. Only a minute after coming on as a sub, Gilberto Abril was instrumental in getting the ball in for Patrik Ruzicka to equaalise for Fleet. The game tightened up and clear chances were at a premium, the hosts conceding several free kicks for niggling contact and tugs, giving them time to pack the defence and keep Fleet at bay, even in the final minutes when Northwood had most of the possession, and looking more daangerous, it looked as if Fleet would hold on until a wonder strike from 20 yards by Hayden-Smith flew into the net after 89 minutes, for what proved to be the winner.
