Sheerwater 0 Fleet Town 4

Fleet’s second pre-season friendly took place on a red hot Saturday morning, although everyone was happy to kick off at 11.30am rather than 3.00pm!!! With the weather as it was water breaks were taken much like the Premier League…

The game was played on the polo fields by the Aldershot Military stadium and Fleet took the opportunity to play two 11’s, one in blue and one in yellow.

Fleet won the first half 2-0. The first goal was a good build up ending in a sweet strike from the edge of the box and the second an excellent 20 yard free-kick from the edge of the box. Fleet played some good football and defended well when it was needed, restricting Sheerwater to rare opportunities.

The second half followed much the same pattern, all be it with a new 11. Sheerwater had a bit more possession but this was dealt with quite comfortably by the Fleet defence. Fleet added 2 more goals in the second half. The first another 20 yard free kick that the Sheerwater goalkeeper couldn’t get to. The second goal was a back post header from a brilliantly curled freekick.

So a good start to Fleet as they build to September and the start of the season.
