Thame United 4 Fleet Town 0
Fleet struggled to get going early on, conceeding a string of early corners, Thame needed half a dozen before they got the delivery right to find McGowan waiting near the middle of the goal to head home. A few minutes later it was Mepham out on the right to hit the perfect cross for Rickets to tuck it away. Fleet soon fought their way back into the game, despite lots of good build up play, the chances were few and far between. One of the better openings came when Bradley Wilson ran onto a long through ball, took the ball up to the box, but his final shot was too close to keeper Hill, who caught the ball. Fleet managed half a dozen crosses and shots from around the box, which all struck a Thame player who cleared the danger. In the last minute of the first half Liam Beach’s goal kick came down on halfway, met by a powerful header back through the Fleet defense to be collected by Goss, who closed in on the goal to slide the ball past Liam and put Thame 3-0 up at the break.
Thame continued to press after the break, bringing a string of fine saves from Liam Beach, a full length dive to turn the ball round the post for a corner. From one of their corners, it was West that got up to make the glancing touch to see the ball into the net for goal number 4. From another corner, Liam made a point blank save to deny Thame adding to the score, the ball going for another corner, which again presented Thame with a shooting chance, this time it was tipped over by Liam, for another corner. A final goal mouth scramble saw Thame have so many chances to score, involving two goal line clearances, both posts being hit before a final shot wide.
