Uxbridge 3 Fleet Town 2

Despite leading twice, Fleet Town fell at the death to a fine free kick goal as they still seek their first away league win of the season.

Uxbridge had early chances when Brown shot wide and then laid on a cross towards Kearney, but the ball eluded its target and the danger passed. On 7 minutes Fleet took the lead through Greame Purdy, the lead lasting for a quarter of an hour, before a mis-hit shot from Maguire deflected off Warner into the net, the score stayed at 1-1 until half time.

Only 4 minutes into the second half Fleet retook the lead through Bradley Wilson. After an hour Uxbridge made a double change to look for a way back into the game and almost immediately one of these introduced players had an impact on the game when M’bengui mis-hit a shot and the ball found Kearney who hit the ball low into the corner of the goal to get the hosts back on level terms. Fleet then had chances to get back in front, but with one shot passing the wrong side of the post and another superbly tipped over by the Uxbridge keeper, the vital goal did not come and inside the final 5 minutes Thomas struck a free kick from 25 yards into the top corner to get Uxbridge in front for the first time and the hosts saw the game out to record a narrow 3-2 victory.
